VW Polo "Worthersee 09": All Show, No Go for GTI-Like Concept Study

The annual Worthesee GTI meeting for Audi and VW enthusiasts in Austria today saw Volkswagen taking the wraps off a new concept study based on the new Polo. The German automaker claims that the "Worthesee 09" concept hints at a high-performance Polo in the likes of the previous Polo GT, Polo G40 and Polo GTI models, but only in what concerns the cars appearance as it is equipped with the puny stock 1.4-liter MPI engine with 86HP. On the outside, the sporty Polo stands out with its 'flash red' body color and two black rally stripes that extend over the front end, the roof and back to the rear.

Moving on inside, VW's designers seem to have spent more time and effort to accessorize the supermini's cabin. The sport seats feature a black nappa leather trims combined with white leather detailing and flash-red nappa leather piping. Red seams also enhance the leatherwork on the parking brake handle, gearshift grip, steering wheel and door trim. Furthermore, the Polo gets glossy black accents on the center console, sport pedals and aluminum tread plates that bear the signature "Polo Wörthersee 09".
