Top-20 Selling Cars and Trucks in the U.S. Through May 2008

Ford and its F-Series trucks might have been dethroned in May by the Honda Civic –see details here, but as you can see in the list with the top-20 selling vehicles in the U.S. through May 2008 that was compiled by Reuters based on the stats reported by automakers, it still holds onto the number one position. However, the way things are going, we won’t be surprised at all if the Toyota Camry manages to break Ford’s decades long streak at the end of 2008.

Interestingly, out of the 20-top selling vehicles in the U.S. this year, 6 belong in the truck segment and 14 are passenger cars. The former “Big-Three” aka the GM, Ford and Chrysler Groups have 12 vehicles in the top-20 list while three Japanese carmakers, Toyota, Nissan and Honda occupy the remaining 8 places. European and Korean automakers are no where to be seen, at least for the time being.
