Nissan & Infiniti Launch World’s First Gyroscopic Parking Monitor

Nissan plans to take all the fun out of parking by introducing the world’s first “Around View Monitor” which offers a bird’s eye view of the vehicle and its surroundings. The system employs four ultrawide-angle (180-degree) high-resolution cameras mounted on the front, sides and rear of the vehicle. The monitor inside the car displays the view from above on the left, and a front or rear view on the right. The front and rear views alternates according to the gear shift. The driver also receives help from the camera-enabled sensors mounted on all four corners of the vehicle that portray the distance to an obstacle in colored graphics, warning the driver via a “beeping” alert when he comes to close. -Continued after the jump

In Japan, the “Around View Monitor” will debut in the new Elgrand, scheduled for introduction at the end of this month while the system will also be offered in the U.S on the new Infiniti EX35 SUV (see here) scheduled for launch this December.
